Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Normal Heart”
The Normal Heart is a 2014 American drama film directed by Ryan Murphy and written by Larry Kramer, based on his 1985 play of the same name. The film stars Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons, Alfred Molina, Joe Mantello, Jonathan Groff, and Julia Roberts.
The film is set in New York City during the early 1980s, and focuses on the rise of the HIV-AIDS crisis and the response of the city and state governments to the epidemic. The story follows Ned Weeks (Ruffalo), a gay writer and activist who is determined to bring attention to the disease, and his friends Felix Turner (Bomer) and Dr. Emma Brookner (Roberts).
Ned and Felix are close friends, and Ned is determined to raise awareness about the growing HIV-AIDS crisis.
