Synopsis – What to Expect from “Pride”
Pride is a 2014 British comedy-drama about a group of lesbian and gay activists who decide to raise money to support the miners during their lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers in the summer of 1984.
The story follows a group of London-based activists, led by Mark Ashton (Ben Schnetzer), who decide to raise money to support the miners in their struggle against the National Union of Mineworkers. The group, which includes gay and lesbian activists, travels to the Welsh mining village of Onllwyn to help the miners and their families.
Once in Onllwyn, the group is met with suspicion and hostility from the miners and their families. They are viewed as outsiders and are seen as a threat to the traditional values of the village. However, the activists are determined to help the miners and gradually win over the village with their enthusiasm and commitment.
The story follows the group as they help raise money for the miners and their families, and as they become increasingly involved in the miners’ struggle.
