Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Kids Are All Right”
The Kids Are All Right is a 2010 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Lisa Cholodenko. The film stars Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska, and Josh Hutcherson as a family of four.
The film follows Nic and Jules (Bening and Moore), a lesbian couple living in California. They have two children, Joni (Wasikowska) and Laser (Hutcherson), who were both conceived with the same sperm donor. When Joni turns 18, she decides to track down her biological father, Paul (Ruffalo).
At first, Nic and Jules are wary of Paul, but he quickly becomes a part of the family, spending time with all of them and bonding with the children. Paul’s presence brings up many issues for Nic and Jules, as they both struggle to come to terms with their own feelings for him.
Meanwhile, Joni and Laser try to figure out who they are and where they fit in the world, as their parents’ relationship is tested by Paul’s presence. The film follows the family as they navigate their relationships with each other and with Paul, and ultimately learn to accept each other and grow closer.
