Synopsis/Plot
Open Range is a 2003 American Western film directed and co-produced by Kevin Costner, who also stars with Robert Duvall. The film is based on the novel The Open Range Men by Lauran Paine.
The film follows two cowboys, Charley Waite (Costner) and Boss Spearman (Duvall), who travel the open range of the West with their herd of cattle. They come across a small town where they find themselves at odds with a ruthless rancher, Denton Baxter (Michael Gambon), who controls the entire area. Baxter’s men try to force Charley and Boss off the land, but the two cowboys refuse, setting off a conflict that threatens to tear the town apart.
The film also stars Annette Bening as Sue Barlow, a woman who is caught between the two sides, and Diego Luna as Mose Harrison, a young man who joins Charley and Boss in their fight for justice.
Open Range is a story of loyalty and justice, of two cowboys who are determined to stand up for what is right. With its sweeping visuals and powerful performances, the film is a classic Western that captures the spirit of the American West.
