Synopsis/Plot
Near Dark is a 1987 American horror western film directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Eric Red. The film follows a young man, Caleb (Adrian Pasdar), who is turned into a vampire by a member of a nomadic vampire clan, and his struggle to find a way to survive and protect the woman he loves.
The film begins with Caleb, a young man from a small town in Oklahoma, meeting Mae (Jenny Wright), a mysterious woman who is part of a nomadic vampire clan. After she bites him, Caleb is transformed into a vampire and must leave his life behind to join the clan. The clan is led by the charismatic but dangerous Jesse (Lance Henriksen), and is composed of a ragtag group of vampires who travel from town to town looking for victims to feed on.
Caleb quickly learns the rules of the vampire life: never stay in one place too long, never get too close to anyone, and never let anyone outside the clan know what you are.
