Synopsis/Plot

Changing Lanes is a 2002 American drama thriller film starring Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson. The film follows two men who are involved in a minor car accident on their way to important appointments. After the accident, the two men become embroiled in a series of escalating confrontations that threaten to destroy both of their lives.

The film opens with Gavin Banek (Affleck), a successful lawyer, rushing to court to file an important document. He is in a hurry and cuts off Doyle Gipson (Jackson), an unemployed recovering alcoholic, on the highway. The two men get into a heated argument and exchange insults before Gipson drives away.

Later, Banek realizes he has lost the document and goes to Gipson’s home to retrieve it. Gipson refuses to give it to him and the two men get into a physical altercation. Banek leaves in anger and Gipson decides to take revenge. He begins to sabotage Banek’s career and life by calling his clients and telling them to drop their cases.

Banek decides to fight back and begins to harass Gipson, eventually getting him fired from his job. The two men continue to battle, each one trying to out
