Synopsis/Plot
Air Force One is a 1997 American action-thriller film directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, and Glenn Close. The film follows the President of the United States (Ford) as he is taken hostage by a group of terrorists while on board Air Force One.
The film begins with President James Marshall (Ford) addressing the nation on the subject of terrorism. After the speech, Marshall boards Air Force One, the presidential plane, and takes off for Moscow. During the flight, the plane is hijacked by a group of terrorists led by Ivan Korshunov (Oldman). The terrorists take the President and most of the passengers hostage in an effort to secure the release of General Radek (Jurgen Prochnow), a political prisoner in Kazakhstan.
Marshall is determined to protect his family and the passengers, so he does everything he can to outwit the terrorists. He and his staff devise a plan to gain control of the plane, while the Vice President (Dean Stockwell) and the National Security Advisor (Wendy Crewson) work to secure the release of the hostages. Meanwhile, the terrorists threaten to execute the hostages if their demands are not met.
