Synopsis/Plot
North by Northwest is a classic American thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It stars Cary Grant as Roger O. Thornhill, a successful advertising executive who is mistaken for a government agent and thrust into a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse.
The movie begins with Roger being kidnapped by a mysterious group of men who believe he is a secret agent. After escaping, he is pursued by the police and a ruthless assassin named Leonard. He soon discovers that he is being framed for the murder of a United Nations diplomat. To clear his name, Roger must evade the police and Leonard and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy.
The action-packed movie takes Roger across the country, from New York to Chicago to South Dakota. Along the way, he meets a beautiful woman named Eve Kendall (played by Eva Marie Saint) who helps him in his quest. As the movie progresses, Roger and Eve become romantically involved.
The climax of the movie takes place atop Mount Rushmore, where Roger and Eve are pursued by Leonard and the police. In the end, Roger manages to outsmart his pursuers and prove his innocence.
