Synopsis – What to Expect from “Suspicion”
Suspicion is a 1941 psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It stars Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine as a married couple, Johnnie and Lina.
The film begins with Johnnie and Lina, a wealthy English couple, on their honeymoon. Johnnie is a charming, devil-may-care playboy and Lina is a shy, timid woman. After their honeymoon, Johnnie begins to exhibit strange behavior, such as taking large amounts of money from his business and gambling it away. Lina begins to suspect that Johnnie is up to something and her suspicions are further fueled when she meets his old friend, Beaky.
Meanwhile, a series of suspicious events occur which make Lina even more suspicious of Johnnie. He disappears for long periods of time, and when he returns, he is often accompanied by a strange woman. He also receives mysterious phone calls and letters from someone who appears to be blackmailing him.
Lina’s suspicions eventually come to a head when she discovers that Johnnie has been planning to murder her for her money. She manages to escape and confronts Johnnie, who admits his plan and begs for her forgiveness. In the end, Johnnie is arrested and his scheme is revealed.
Suspicion is a classic Hitchcock thriller that keeps viewers guessing until the very end. It is a suspenseful and thrilling ride filled with mystery and intrigue.
