Synopsis/Plot
Rope is a psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock and released in 1948. The movie follows two young men, Brandon and Phillip, who strangle their former classmate, David, and hide his body in a chest in their apartment. After the murder, the two men invite their friends and family over for a dinner party, serving the food on top of the chest that contains the body.
The story follows the two men’s struggle to keep their crime a secret while trying to maintain their composure in front of their guests. Brandon and Phillip are both highly intelligent and confident, and they attempt to use their charm and wit to distract from the fact that they are hiding a corpse in their apartment. As the evening progresses, the tension builds as the guests become suspicious of the two men’s behavior, and the police start to investigate the suspicious death.
