Synopsis – What to Expect from “High-Rise”

High-Rise is a 2015 British psychological thriller film directed by Ben Wheatley, based on the 1975 novel of the same name by J. G. Ballard. The film stars Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, and Elisabeth Moss.

The story takes place in a luxurious high-rise apartment building in the 1970s. The building is home to a variety of people, from the wealthy and privileged to the poor and struggling. Dr. Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) is a new resident in the high-rise, and he quickly finds himself drawn into the complex social dynamics of the building.

The building’s residents soon begin to form their own distinct social hierarchy, with the wealthy and privileged living on the upper floors and the poor and struggling on the lower floors. As tensions between the classes rise, the building quickly descends into chaos as the residents begin to fight for their place in the high-rise. Laing finds himself caught in the middle of the conflict, struggling to maintain his own sanity as the building descends into madness.

The film follows Laing as he navigates the social dynamics of the high-rise and attempts to survive the chaos that ensues. He must confront his own demons and come to terms with the darkness that lurks within the building. As the chaos reaches its peak, Laing must decide whether to stay and fight or to flee the
