Synopsis/Plot
Midnight Special is a 2016 science fiction drama film written and directed by Jeff Nichols. The film stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Jaeden Lieberher, and Sam Shepard.
The story follows Roy, a father desperate to protect his uniquely gifted eight-year-old son Alton from government forces who want to use his powers for their own agenda. As they flee across the country, Roy and Alton must stay one step ahead of the authorities and a mysterious cult who are determined to capture Alton. Along the way, they enlist the help of a sympathetic woman, Lucas, and a hard-nosed federal agent, Sevier, to help protect Alton and discover the truth about his powers.
The film is a gripping and suspenseful journey as Roy and Alton race to discover the truth behind Alton’s powers and ultimately, his destiny. Along the way, they must face the consequences of their choices and the dark forces that are determined to capture Alton.
