Synopsis/Plot
Eddie the Eagle is a 2016 British-American biographical sports comedy-drama film directed by Dexter Fletcher. The film stars Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman, Christopher Walken, and Jo Hartley.
The movie follows the true story of Michael “Eddie” Edwards, an underdog British ski jumper who never let anything stand in his way of achieving his dream of competing in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. As a young boy, Eddie had a passion for skiing and wanted to be an Olympic athlete. But as he grew older, the odds seemed to be against him. He was too tall and too heavy to become a downhill skier, and he was laughed at by the ski jumping elite.
However, Eddie persevered and with the help of a former Olympic ski jumper, Bronson Peary (played by Hugh Jackman), he was able to train and compete in the 1988 Olympics. Despite the odds, Eddie became the first British ski jumper to compete in the Olympics in over fifty years.
