Synopsis/Plot
Short Term 12 is a 2013 American drama film written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Set in a foster-care facility for at-risk teenagers, the film stars Brie Larson as Grace, a twenty-something supervisor who has to juggle her own issues with those of the kids in her care. In the facility, Grace and her long-time boyfriend and co-worker, Mason (John Gallagher Jr.), try to do their best to help the kids, while also dealing with their own personal issues.
The film follows Grace as she cares for the teenagers in the facility, dealing with their behavioral issues, emotional outbursts, and various other problems. She develops a special bond with Jayden (Kaitlyn Dever), a troubled young girl who is struggling to cope with her past. Grace also has to deal with Marcus (Keith Stanfield), a young man with a difficult home life, and Luis (Ramiro Rodriguez), a boy with a history of violence.
The film is a powerful and moving story that deals with the struggles of the kids in the facility, as well as Grace’s own struggles with her past. It is a story of hope and resilience, and of the power
