Synopsis/Plot
12 Mighty Orphans is a 2020 sports drama film directed by Ty Roberts and starring Luke Wilson, Vinessa Shaw, Martin Sheen, and Robert Duvall. The film is based on the true story of the Mighty Mites, a ragtag football team from a small Texas town that achieved the impossible in the 1930s.
The film follows Rusty Russell (Luke Wilson), a former college football star-turned-coach, as he takes over a team of orphans from the Masonic Home orphanage in Fort Worth, Texas. Despite their lack of resources and experience, Russell and the Mighty Mites go on to win the state championship against all odds.
The film explores the themes of family, friendship, and resilience as the team faces numerous challenges on and off the field. With their coach’s guidance, the Mighty Mites come to learn the importance of hard work, determination, and teamwork in order to succeed.
