Synopsis/Plot
T2 Trainspotting is a 2017 British black comedy-drama film and sequel to the 1996 film Trainspotting. The film is directed by Danny Boyle and written by John Hodge, based on characters created by Irvine Welsh in his novel Trainspotting. The film stars Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, and Kelly Macdonald.
The film follows the original Trainspotting characters, twenty years later, as they reunite in Edinburgh. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home, where his friends still live, and must choose between old loyalties and new temptations.
The film follows Renton and his friends, Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle), as they navigate their lives in the late 1990s. The film explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and betrayal, and how life has changed for the characters since the original film.
