Synopsis/Plot
The Upside is a 2017 American comedy-drama film directed by Neil Burger and written by Jon Hartmere. It stars Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston, Nicole Kidman, Julianna Margulies, and Aja Naomi King.
The film follows Phillip Lacasse (Cranston), a wealthy quadriplegic, who strikes up an unlikely friendship with his caretaker, Dell Scott (Hart). Dell is a recently released convict who is desperate for work and agrees to take the job despite having no experience caring for the disabled. Despite their differences, the two men form a strong bond and soon Phillip helps Dell get back on his feet.
The film follows the two men as they learn to understand and accept each other and their respective lives. Dell helps Phillip to overcome his depression and find joy and purpose in life again. In turn, Phillip helps Dell to become a better person and to start a new life.
The Upside is a heartwarming story about friendship, acceptance, and the power of second chances. It is an uplifting and inspiring story that will leave viewers feeling hopeful and optimistic.
