Synopsis – What to Expect from “For Richer or Poorer”
For Richer or Poorer is a romantic comedy released in 1997 starring Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley as Brad and Caroline Sexton, a wealthy New York couple. Brad and Caroline are facing financial ruin due to Brad’s bad investments and they are forced to flee to Amish country in Pennsylvania to hide from the IRS.
Once in Pennsylvania, Brad and Caroline are taken in by an Amish family and must learn to live a simpler life in order to survive. They must also learn to accept the Amish way of life and its values, and come to understand the importance of family and community.
Brad and Caroline soon find themselves falling in love with the Amish way of life and the people they meet. They also come to appreciate the importance of hard work and the value of money.
But when the IRS finally catches up with them, Brad and Caroline must decide whether to stay in Amish country or face the consequences of their actions. In the end, they choose to stay, and their newfound appreciation for the Amish way of life helps them to find true happiness.
