Synopsis – What to Expect from “Hardcore”
Hardcore is a 1979 American crime drama film directed by Paul Schrader and written by his brother Leonard Schrader. The film tells the story of a conservative religious father, Jake Van Dorn (George C. Scott) who embarks on a desperate search for his missing daughter, Kristen (Ilah Davis).
When Kristen fails to return home from a trip to California, Jake enlists the help of a private detective, Andy Mast (Peter Boyle), to track her down. After months of searching, Andy finally finds Kristen in a seedy pornographic film. Jake is shocked and devastated by the discovery, and he is determined to save his daughter from the porn industry.
Jake and Andy travel to Los Angeles, where they encounter a variety of shady characters who are involved in the porn business. They soon discover that Kristen has been kidnapped by a porn producer, who is forcing her to perform in his films.
In order to rescue Kristen, Jake and Andy must go undercover and infiltrate the porn industry. Along the way, they must confront their own personal demons and challenge their own moral beliefs.
The film follows Jake and Andy as they battle the dark forces of the porn industry, and fight to save Kristen. In the end, they must decide how far they are willing to go in order to save her.
