Synopsis/Plot
The Card Counter is a gripping drama that follows the story of William Tell (Oscar Isaac), a gambler and former Marine who has been living a life of solitude in a small town. After being released from prison, Tell is determined to start a new life and make a fresh start, but his past is always looming in the background. He soon discovers that his skill for card counting could be his ticket to a better life. Tell begins to travel around the country, playing in casinos and making a living from his winnings.
However, his newfound success attracts the attention of a dangerous casino owner, who threatens to ruin Tell’s life if he doesn’t stop counting cards. With his future on the line, Tell must find a way to outsmart the casino and protect himself from its powerful owner. Along the way, he meets a young woman (Tye Sheridan) who helps him on his journey and a mysterious figure (William Hurt) who seems to have a vested interest in Tell’s fate.
