Synopsis/Plot
Casino is a 1995 American epic crime drama film directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone. Set in the 1970s in Las Vegas, the film chronicles the rise and fall of mobster Sam “Ace” Rothstein (De Niro) as he runs the Tangiers Casino.
Ace is a smooth operator of the Tangiers Casino, which is owned by the Chicago Outfit. He is tasked with ensuring that the casino runs efficiently and brings in a large profit for the mobsters. Ace is a master of the game and is able to make a lot of money for the mob bosses. However, he is also a compulsive gambler who quickly gets in over his head.
Ace’s best friend, Nicky Santoro (Pesci), is a ruthless mob enforcer who is sent to Las Vegas to help Ace with the casino. Nicky quickly establishes a reputation as a violent and dangerous individual, and his presence causes a lot of trouble for Ace.
Ace’s relationship with Ginger McKenna (Stone), a former hustler, also complicates matters. Ace falls in love with Ginger, and they eventually marry.
