Synopsis – What to Expect from “Crossroads”
Crossroads is a 2002 film starring Britney Spears, Zoe Saldana, and Taryn Manning. The plot follows three childhood friends Lucy (Spears), Kit (Saldana), and Mimi (Manning) who reunite after years of separation to embark on a cross-country road trip.
The story begins with Lucy, a sheltered young woman who is about to graduate from high school. She has been accepted to a prestigious university, but her overprotective father forbids her to attend. Instead, she is to marry her wealthy fiancee, a man she does not love. Desperate to escape her fate, Lucy runs away from home and reunites with her childhood friends Kit and Mimi.
Kit is a free-spirited singer-songwriter who dreams of finding fame and fortune in Los Angeles. Mimi is a wild and rebellious party girl who is running away from her abusive boyfriend. Together, the three friends set off on a road trip to L.A. in Kit’s beat-up car.
Along the way, they encounter a variety of characters, including a friendly trucker, a mysterious hitchhiker, and a creepy motel clerk. They also discover that they have more in common than they thought, and they become closer as they share their secrets and dreams.
