Synopsis/Plot
The Borrowers is a 1997 British-American fantasy comedy-drama film directed by Peter Hewitt and based on the children’s novel of the same name by Mary Norton. The film stars John Goodman, Jim Broadbent, Mark Williams, and Hugh Laurie.
The story follows the Clock family, a family of tiny people who live secretly in the walls and floors of an English house. The family consists of Pod Clock, his wife Homily, and their teenage daughter Arrietty. The family is forced to leave their home when the house is sold and they are discovered by a human boy named Pete.
The Clocks embark on a journey to find a new home, while evading the evil plans of their human neighbor, Ocious Potter. Along the way, they make new friends, learn the value of family, and discover the true meaning of home.
