Synopsis/Plot
Moon is a 2009 science fiction film directed by Duncan Jones and starring Sam Rockwell. The story follows Sam Bell (Rockwell), an astronaut working alone on a three-year contract at a lunar mining base, who begins to experience strange phenomena and dreams that call into question his sanity. As he struggles to survive the psychological effects of his isolation, he discovers a shocking secret that could change the fate of humanity.
The film is set in the near future, and follows Sam Bell as he works alone at a lunar mining base, extracting helium-3, an alternative energy source, from the surface of the moon. Sam is nearing the end of his three-year contract and is looking forward to returning to Earth and seeing his wife and daughter. However, he begins to experience strange phenomena, such as hearing voices, seeing visions, and suffering from vivid nightmares. He also discovers a malfunctioning robotic clone of himself, which leads him to believe he is going insane.
As Sam investigates the source of his hallucinations, he discovers a shocking secret about the company he works for, and the true nature of his mission. He learns that he is actually part of a long-term experiment, and that the company is using clones of himself
