Synopsis/Plot
Megan Leavey is a 2017 American biographical drama film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and written by Pamela Gray, Annie Mumolo, and Tim Lovestedt. The film stars Kate Mara as Megan Leavey, a young Marine corporal whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog, Rex, saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq.
The film follows Megan as she enlists in the United States Marine Corps and is paired with Rex, a German Shepherd trained to sniff out explosives. Through their deployment, Rex and Megan form an unbreakable bond, and the two become inseparable. Together, they complete over 100 missions and save countless lives, but when an IED explosion injures both of them, Megan is forced to face the reality that she and Rex may never be reunited.
Megan Leavey is a powerful story of friendship, loyalty, and courage in the face of adversity. It is an inspiring tale of one woman’s journey to find her purpose in life, and the incredible bond she and Rex share. Through their journey, Megan finds strength, courage, and friendship, and ultimately learns that there is no greater love than that of a loyal canine companion.
