Synopsis/Plot
American Ultra is an action-packed, thrilling comedy about a small-town stoner named Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg) who is living a mundane life in the sleepy town of Liman, West Virginia. Mike is an unmotivated slacker who spends his days working at a local convenience store and smoking marijuana with his girlfriend, Phoebe (Kristen Stewart). Little does he know that he is actually a highly trained sleeper agent for the CIA, and his past is about to come back to haunt him.
When a mysterious government agent, Adrian Yates (Topher Grace), shows up in town to terminate Mike’s life, Mike’s dormant skills are activated and he discovers he has superhuman abilities. With the help of Phoebe, Mike must battle his way out of town and evade the relentless pursuit of Yates and his team of highly trained assassins.
As Mike and Phoebe try to survive and escape, they quickly realize that the only way to make it out alive is to rely on each other and their newfound skills. Along the way, they must also face off against a powerful drug lord who is determined to keep them in his grasp.
