Synopsis/Plot
Spy is a 2015 American action comedy film directed by Paul Feig and written by Feig and Peter Straughan. The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Miranda Hart, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney, and Jude Law.
The film follows Susan Cooper (McCarthy), a desk-bound CIA analyst, and her partner, field agent Bradley Fine (Law). When Fine is killed in action, Susan volunteers to go undercover to investigate the activities of a deadly arms dealer, Rayna Boyanov (Byrne).
With the help of her mentor, Agent Ethan (Statham), and a few other agents, Susan infiltrates Rayna’s inner circle and attempts to stop her from selling a deadly nuclear weapon. Along the way, Susan discovers her inner strength and courage, and learns to take risks in order to save the world.
The film is filled with action, laughs, and plenty of spy gadgets. The cast is excellent, with McCarthy and Statham providing plenty of comic relief. The story is fast-paced and entertaining, and the action sequences are thrilling.
