Synopsis – What to Expect from “Cannonball”

Cannonball is a classic 1976 action-comedy film directed by Paul Bartel and starring David Carradine and Bill McKinney. The film follows the antics of a group of daredevils as they compete in an illegal cross-country race from New York City to California.

The race is organized by a shady entrepreneur named Weldon (Gerrit Graham), who has promised a million dollars to the winner. Among the participants are the mysterious and reckless Cannonball (David Carradine), a former race car driver, and his friend, the lovable but dim-witted Moses (Bill McKinney).

Cannonball and Moses face a number of obstacles as they race across the country. They must outwit and outrun a gang of ruthless criminals led by the sadistic Big Ben (Vic Tayback), and they must also survive the treacherous terrain of the American Southwest. Along the way, they pick up a few unlikely allies, including a beautiful hitchhiker named Annie (Veronica Hamel) and a bumbling cop named Officer Zippo (Robert Carradine).

Throughout the race, Cannonball and Moses are pursued by the police, who are determined to shut down the race and put an end to Weldon’s illegal activities. As the race nears its conclusion, the stakes get higher and the competition gets more intense. In the end, only one racer will emerge victorious and take home the million-dollar prize.
