Synopsis – What to Expect from “Cyrus”
Cyrus is a dark comedy about a man named John, played by John C. Reilly, and his struggles with relationships. John is a recently divorced man who is trying to get back into the dating game. He meets a young woman named Molly, played by Marisa Tomei, at a party and they hit it off.
John and Molly soon begin to fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by the fact that Molly has a 21-year-old son, Cyrus, played by Jonah Hill. Cyrus is an awkward and insecure young man who lives with his mother and is very possessive of her. He is not happy with the idea of his mother dating someone else and does everything he can to sabotage the relationship.
John and Cyrus eventually come to an understanding and try to get along, but things become even more complicated when Cyrus’s father, Jamie, played by Catherine Keener, enters the picture. Jamie is an eccentric and wealthy woman who is determined to win back Molly’s affections.
The film follows the complicated relationships between John, Molly, Cyrus, and Jamie as they try to navigate their feelings and figure out how to make their relationships work. Along the way, there are plenty of hilarious and awkward moments as the characters try to figure out how to deal with their issues. In the end, the characters must learn to accept each other and find a way to make their relationships work.
