The Call of the Wild: Dog of the Yukon is a 1997 Canadian adventure drama film directed by Peter Svatek and starring Rutger Hauer, Gordon Tootoosis and Mandy Patinkin.
The film follows the story of Buck, a half-wolf, half-dog hybrid, who is taken from his home in California to the Yukon during the Gold Rush of the late 1890s. After being sold to a cruel and abusive master, Buck runs away to the wilds of the Yukon, where he meets a kind and gentle trapper named John Thornton. With Thornton’s help, Buck learns how to survive in the wilderness and soon becomes the leader of a pack of wolves.
