Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Comebacks”
The Comebacks is a 2007 American sports comedy film directed by Tom Brady. The movie follows a hapless coach, Lambeau Fields (David Koechner), who takes a ragtag bunch of college misfits and leads them on an unlikely run to the college football championship game.
The movie begins with Lambeau as a struggling assistant coach at a small college. He is desperate to prove himself and get a head coaching job, but his lack of success has left him with few options. When the college’s head coach is fired, Lambeau is given the chance to take over the team.
Despite the team’s dismal record, Lambeau is determined to turn the team around. He brings in a new assistant coach, Lance Truman (Carl Weathers), and a new starting quarterback, quarterback Kip Patterson (Matthew Lawrence). With the help of Lance and Kip, Lambeau begins to build a winning team.
The team begins to show improvement, and they even win a few games. But when they face their toughest opponent, the undefeated and heavily favored State University, the team is in for a real challenge. Despite the odds, the team puts up a valiant fight and nearly pulls off the upset.
