Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Crowd”
The Crowd is a silent film released in 1928. It tells the story of John Sims, a young man who moves to New York City to make a name for himself. He quickly finds a job and is soon on his way to success, but he soon realizes that the city is a harsh and unforgiving place.
The film follows John as he navigates the city, its people, and its opportunities. He meets a variety of colorful characters, including a kindly old couple, a streetwise hustler, and a young woman who is determined to make it in the city. John also struggles with the temptations of the city, including alcohol and gambling.
John’s fortunes begin to take a turn for the worse when he is laid off from his job and is unable to find another. He soon finds himself in a downward spiral, living on the streets and struggling to make ends meet. He is eventually forced to move back in with his parents, but he is determined to make it on his own.
