Synopsis/Plot
Swallow is a psychological thriller film about a young woman named Hunter, played by Haley Bennett, who is struggling to keep her life together. She is married to Richie, a wealthy and controlling man played by Austin Stowell, and is pregnant with their first child. In order to cope with her increasingly oppressive home life, Hunter develops an eating disorder which leads her to swallow inedible objects.
As Hunter’s condition worsens, her husband and in-laws become increasingly concerned and frustrated, as they are unable to understand her actions or help her. Hunter is eventually admitted to a treatment center, where she meets a compassionate doctor, played by Elizabeth Marvel, who is determined to help her.
Throughout the film, Hunter’smental health deteriorates as she struggles to cope with her life and her eating disorder. She is constantly haunted by her past and feels like she is trapped in a cycle of self-destruction. As Hunter’s condition worsens, she begins to doubt her own sanity and question her ability to ever recover.
The film follows Hunter’s journey of self-discovery and recovery as she learns to cope with her mental illness and finds the strength to break away from her oppressive home life. In the end, Hunter is able to overcome her disorder and reclaim her life and independence.
