Synopsis – What to Expect from “Year of the Dragon”
Year of the Dragon is a 1985 crime drama directed by Michael Cimino and starring Mickey Rourke, John Lone, and Ariane.
The film follows Stanley White (Rourke), a hard-nosed New York City police captain who is assigned to Chinatown to clean up the streets of the heavily-populated Asian district. White is determined to rid the area of crime, even if it means taking on the powerful Triad gang led by the ruthless and cunning Joey Tai (Lone).
White soon finds himself in a dangerous and violent game of cat and mouse with Tai, as the two fight for control of the streets. White’s efforts to rid Chinatown of crime are further complicated by the presence of a powerful and influential Chinese-American politician, who is determined to protect the interests of the Triad.
White’s battle with Tai and his gang soon escalates into a bloody and violent conflict, as White struggles to maintain control of the streets. In the end, White must decide between doing what is right and protecting the people of Chinatown or giving in to the demands of the Triad.
