Synopsis/Plot
Xanadu is a 1980 American romantic musical fantasy film written by Richard Christian Danus and Marc Reid Rubel and directed by Robert Greenwald. The film stars Olivia Newton-John, Gene Kelly, Michael Beck, and Jamie Donnelly.
The story follows Kira (Newton-John), a beautiful Greek muse who appears in Venice Beach, California, to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny (Beck), to achieve his greatest artistic creation. Along with Danny McGuire (Kelly), an aging, but still-successful musician, Sonny builds a huge and glittering roller disco.
Kira encourages Sonny to follow his dreams, and soon, with the help of Danny and Kira’s sisters, the muses, the dream is realized. As the roller disco becomes a smashing success, Kira and Sonny’s love blossoms, but Kira must choose between staying on earth with Sonny or returning to the heavens.
