Synopsis – What to Expect from “Wristcutters: A Love Story”
Wristcutters: A Love Story is a dark romantic comedy set in an afterlife for people who have committed suicide. Zia (Patrick Fugit) has recently killed himself after his girlfriend Desiree (Leslie Bibb) left him. He finds himself in a strange purgatory populated by other suicidal people, all of whom are stuck in a state of limbo.
Zia meets Eugene (Shea Whigham), a quirky Russian who takes him under his wing and introduces him to the world of the afterlife. Zia soon learns that he can still feel the pain of his loss, and that the only way to move on is to find Desiree. With Eugene’s help, Zia sets out on a road trip across the afterlife in search of his lost love.
Along the way, the two meet Mikal (Shannyn Sossamon), a hitchhiker who joins their quest. As they travel, Zia and Mikal become close, and he begins to find solace and hope in her company. As they approach their destination, they face a number of obstacles that test their courage and resolve.
