Synopsis – What to Expect from “Wonderstruck”
Wonderstruck is a 2017 American drama film directed by Todd Haynes and written by Brian Selznick, based on his novel of the same name. The film stars Oakes Fegley and Millicent Simmonds as two children from different eras who secretly wish their lives were different.
The film follows the story of Ben (Oakes Fegley) and Rose (Millicent Simmonds), two children from different eras who are connected by a mysterious force. In 1977, Ben is a young boy living in Minnesota with his single mother. After his father’s death, Ben discovers a clue that leads him to New York City in search of a long-lost relative.
Meanwhile, in 1927, Rose is a deaf girl living in Hoboken, New Jersey. She is unhappy with her life and dreams of running away to New York City to find her movie star idol, Lillian Mayhew.
As their stories unfold, Ben and Rose discover that their lives are connected in ways they never expected. Through their journey, they learn that the past and the present are not so different.
