Synopsis/Plot
Women is an inspiring and moving documentary about the struggles of women around the world. It follows the stories of five strong and determined women from different countries and cultures who are all united by their common goal of seeking equality and justice.
The film begins in India, where we meet Saira, a young woman who is fighting against oppressive gender norms. She is determined to finish her education and become a lawyer, despite the fact that her family wants her to get married. We also meet Mariam, an Afghan refugee living in Iran, who is struggling to make a living and provide for her family. In the United States, we meet Latina activist Alma, who is fighting for the rights of immigrants and working to get her son released from the prison system. In Brazil, we meet Maria, a single mother who is fighting for better wages and working conditions for the domestic workers in her community. Finally, in Nigeria, we meet Blessing, a young girl who is determined to get an education and break the cycle of poverty in her family.
The stories of these five women are interwoven throughout the film, as they each share their struggles and triumphs. Through their stories, we are reminded of the power of perseverance
