Synopsis – What to Expect from “Wish I Was Here”
Wish I Was Here is a 2014 American comedy-drama film starring Zach Braff, Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, and Josh Gad. It follows the story of Aidan Bloom, a thirty-something father of two who is struggling to make ends meet while trying to find his purpose in life.
Aidan is a struggling actor who is facing a mid-life crisis. He is married to Sarah (Kate Hudson), and they have two children, Grace (Joey King) and Tucker (Pierce Gagnon). Aidan’s father, Gabe (Mandy Patinkin), is ailing with terminal cancer and the family is struggling financially to pay for his medical bills.
Desperate for money, Aidan takes a job as an accountant and begins to neglect his family. His wife, Sarah, is frustrated with Aidan’s lack of ambition and begins to question their relationship. Meanwhile, Aidan’s brother, Noah (Josh Gad), introduces him to a mysterious figure known as “The Wizard” (Jim Parsons). The Wizard encourages Aidan to pursue his dreams and to take risks.
Aidan decides to take a leap of faith and quit his job to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He starts to take acting classes and auditions for roles. With the help of the Wizard, Aidan is able to find his true passion and he begins to make progress in his career.
