Synopsis/Plot
Wild at Heart is a 1990 American romantic crime film written and directed by David Lynch and starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern. The film follows young lovers Sailor Ripley (Cage) and Lula Fortune (Dern) as they flee across the country pursued by her mother’s mobster boyfriend, Marcello (Dennis Hopper). Along the way, they encounter a series of strange characters, all of whom have a profound effect on their lives.
The film begins in Cape Fear, North Carolina, where Sailor and Lula are madly in love. After Sailor is released from prison for killing a man who attacked Lula, the two decide to go on the run together. They set out on a road trip across the country, determined to live their lives as they please.
As they travel, they encounter a number of strange characters, including Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe), a dangerous ex-convict with a sinister agenda; Perdita Durango (Isabella Rossellini), a mysterious and seductive witch; and Johnnie Farragut (Harry Dean Stanton), a kindly old motel owner with a tragic past.
