Synopsis – What to Expect from “White Dog”
White Dog is a 1982 American drama film directed by Samuel Fuller and starring Kristy McNichol as Julie Sawyer, a young actress who discovers a white German Shepherd that has been trained to attack black people.
The film opens with Julie Sawyer, a young actress, finding a white German Shepherd in the Hollywood Hills. She takes the dog home with her and quickly discovers that it has been trained to attack black people. This horrifies her and she takes the dog to an animal trainer, Keys (Paul Winfield), to try to undo the damage.
Keys is a black man who is determined to help Julie and to undo the damage that has been done to the dog. He begins to work with the dog, trying to get it to accept black people. But the dog remains stubbornly resistant to his efforts.
Meanwhile, Julie is being pressured by the studio to return the dog, which they fear could be a liability. Julie refuses, determined to help the dog and to try to undo the damage that has been done.
Keys and Julie continue to work with the dog, and eventually it begins to show signs of progress. But when the studio finds out about the progress, they become even more determined to get rid of the dog.
The film culminates in a dramatic scene in which Keys and Julie confront the studio and try to protect the dog. In the end, the dog is saved and Keys and Julie are triumphant.
