Synopsis – What to Expect from “Where Is Anne Frank”
Where Is Anne Frank is a 2021 biographical drama film directed by Jon Avnet and starring Daisy Ridley, Kate Winslet, and Willem Dafoe. The film tells the story of Anne Frank, a Jewish teenager who hid from the Nazis in an attic in Amsterdam during World War II.
The film begins in Germany in 1933, when Anne is just a young girl. She is living with her family in Frankfurt when the Nazis come to power and anti-Semitism begins to spread throughout the country. Anne’s family is forced to flee to Amsterdam, where they find refuge in a secret annex of an old building. Here, Anne begins to keep a diary in which she records her thoughts and experiences during this difficult time.
The film follows Anne as she grows up in the annex, experiencing both the joys and hardships of life in hiding. She faces the fear of being discovered by the Nazis, and the loneliness of being separated from her friends and family. Despite the difficult circumstances, Anne finds solace in her diary, and in her relationship with her father, Otto Frank.
The film also explores the lives of the people who helped the Franks remain hidden, such as Miep Gies and Johannes Kleiman. It also looks at the fate of the Franks after they are discovered by the Gestapo in 1944.
The film culminates with Anne’s diary being published after the war and her legacy as an inspirational symbol of hope, courage, and resilience
