Synopsis/Plot
What Lies Beneath is a 2000 American supernatural horror film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer as a couple who experience a strange haunting that uncovers secrets about their past. The film follows Claire Spencer (Pfeiffer) and her husband Norman (Ford) as they move into a new home in Vermont. Claire begins to experience supernatural phenomena, including hearing voices and seeing visions of a woman in a white dress. After researching her visions, Claire discovers the woman was the previous owner of the house, Dr. Catherine Clairmont, who disappeared mysteriously. Claire and Norman then find out that Catherine was having an affair with Norman’s former colleague. As Claire continues to investigate, she begins to uncover more secrets about the house and its past occupants, and the horror of what lies beneath. The film is a suspenseful and eerie exploration of the supernatural, and ultimately reveals the truth behind the mysterious haunting.
