Kahu is an intelligent and determined girl, but finds herself overlooked and ignored by her grandfather, Koro Apirana, the current chief of the tribe. He is desperate to find a male leader to replace him, and is determined to train his young grandsons to take on the role. But when they fail to live up to his expectations, Kahu decides to take matters into her own hands. She begins to train secretly, and gradually proves her worth to the tribe.
Kahu’s determination and courage eventually lead her to a dramatic showdown with her grandfather. In the end, she must prove her worth and prove that she
