Synopsis – What to Expect from “We’re No Angels”
We’re No Angels is a classic 1955 comedy film starring Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray, and Peter Ustinov. It tells the story of two escaped convicts, Joseph and Albert (Bogart and Ray), who decide to hide out in a small French-Canadian town.
Joseph and Albert, who are both charming and charismatic, quickly become popular with the locals. They are welcomed into the home of the local priest, Father Clement (Ustinov), and his housekeeper, Mme. Ruchet (Joan Bennett). Joseph and Albert decide to stay in the town and help the locals, all while trying to stay one step ahead of the law.
The two convicts help the townspeople with various tasks, from helping a young couple find a home to helping a widow find a job. As they become more deeply involved with the locals, they also become increasingly aware of the poverty and injustice that exists in the town.
At the same time, Joseph and Albert find themselves falling in love with the same woman, the beautiful and strong-willed Mlle. Patelin (Marilyn Monroe). As the two men compete for her affections, they also find themselves in increasingly dangerous situations.
In the end, Joseph and Albert must decide whether to stay in the town and risk being captured by the authorities, or to leave and start a new life elsewhere. We’re
