Synopsis/Plot
Wendy and Lucy is a 2008 drama film directed by Kelly Reichardt and starring Michelle Williams. The film follows Wendy, a young woman from Indiana who is on her way to Alaska with her dog, Lucy, in order to find work. Along the way, Wendy’s car breaks down in Oregon and she is forced to stay in a small town while she tries to find a way to repair it. With no money and no family to rely on, Wendy’s life quickly spirals out of control as she struggles to survive.
The film follows Wendy as she navigates her way through a world filled with poverty, desperation, and loneliness. As she searches for a way to repair her car, she finds herself in a series of unfortunate situations, from being arrested for shoplifting to being taken advantage of by a predatory mechanic.
