Synopsis – What to Expect from “Welcome to Mooseport”
Welcome to Mooseport follows the story of former President Monroe “Eagle” Cole, who moves to the small town of Mooseport, Maine after leaving office. After settling in, Monroe decides to run for mayor of Mooseport against the incumbent, Mayor Grace Sutherland. Monroe’s popularity and charm quickly wins him the hearts of the townspeople, and he is elected mayor.
Meanwhile, Monroe’s former chief of staff, Sally Mannis, arrives in Mooseport to help Monroe with his new job. But Monroe soon finds himself in competition with Sally when she decides to run for mayor as well, creating a rivalry between the two.
As the election draws closer, Monroe and Sally become increasingly desperate to win the election. They both resort to underhanded tactics to win the favor of the townspeople, including bribery, mudslinging, and smear campaigns.
In the end, Monroe and Sally both realize that they have gone too far and put their friendship in jeopardy. After a heated debate, Monroe and Sally decide to end their campaign and instead focus on the real issues facing Mooseport. In the end, Monroe is re-elected mayor and Sally is appointed his deputy mayor.
The movie ends with Monroe and Sally happily working together to make Mooseport a better place for all its citizens.
