Synopsis – What to Expect from “Waking the Dead”
Waking the Dead is a romantic drama released in 2000, starring Billy Crudup and Jennifer Connelly. The film follows the story of Fielding Pierce (Crudup), a young politician who is preparing for a congressional race. Fielding has a passionate relationship with Sarah Williams (Connelly), a beautiful and ambitious woman.
Fielding and Sarah have a whirlwind romance and are quickly engaged. However, Sarah is tragically killed in a car accident shortly after their engagement. Fielding is devastated by her death, and his political career takes a backseat as he struggles to cope with the loss.
Years later, Fielding is still unable to move on from Sarah’s death. He meets a mysterious woman, Dr. Grace Holden (Hal Holbrook), who tells him that Sarah’s spirit is still alive and can be brought back to life. With her help, Fielding embarks on a journey to bring Sarah back from the dead.
Fielding is faced with difficult moral and ethical questions as he struggles to decide whether or not to bring Sarah back. He must also confront the fact that Sarah may not be the same person he remembers her to be. In the end, Fielding must make a difficult decision that will affect the rest of his life.
