Synopsis – What to Expect from “Waking Ned”
Waking Ned is a heartwarming comedy set in the rural Irish town of Tullymore. The film follows the story of two best friends, Jackie O’Shea (Ian Bannen) and Michael O’Sullivan (David Kelly), who discover that one of the residents of their small village has won the lottery.
The two friends soon learn that the winner is Ned Devine (Jimmy Keogh), a simple, elderly man who has since passed away from shock. After learning of Ned’s death, Jackie and Michael hatch a plan to claim the lottery winnings for themselves. In order to do so, they must convince the other villagers to pretend that Ned is still alive.
The two friends enlist the help of Maggie (Fionnula Flanagan), a nosy old woman who is eager to help them in their scheme. Together, they must convince the lottery commission that Ned is still alive and convince the other villagers to go along with their plan.
The film follows Jackie and Michael as they work to convince the villagers to pretend that Ned is still alive. Along the way, the two friends experience a roller coaster of emotions as they struggle to keep their plan a secret and keep the villagers from getting suspicious.
The film culminates in a hilarious and heartwarming finale in which the villagers come together to celebrate Ned’s life and his lottery winnings. In the end, Jackie and Michael learn an important lesson about friendship and the power of
