Valley Girl is a 2020 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg and written by Amy Talkington, based on the 1983 film of the same name. The film stars Jessica Rothe, Josh Whitehouse, Jessie Ennis, Chloe Bennet, Ashleigh Murray, and Judy Greer.
The film follows Julie (Rothe), a Valley girl living in the San Fernando Valley in 1983. She is a popular and bubbly teenager who is madly in love with her boyfriend, a punk rocker named Randy (Whitehouse). Although their relationship is strong, Julie’s parents disapprove of Randy and his lifestyle.
When Julie’s parents send her away to the beach for the summer, she meets a charming and wealthy man named Tommy (Ennis). Despite their differences, Julie and Tommy quickly find themselves falling for each other. Even though Julie is still in love with Randy, she can’t help but be drawn to Tommy’s charm.
When Julie returns home, she has to make a decision between Randy and Tommy. With the help of her friends, Julie must find a way to balance her love for both of them and figure out what she wants in life.
